Bourbon. Bluegrass. Basketball. Typically the first thoughts when one thinks of Kentucky - not synth-driven pop-rock that pays equal homage to arena rock heroes of the past and pop-pioneers of the present. Louisville’s STEREO EMPIRE is intent on changing that.
STEREO EMPIRE formed in 2013 and began writing what would become their debut EP, THE MOVES. Delivering "[a] collection of songs that are inspiring and at the end of the day beg you to move" (TheEqualGround.com), the release and energetic performances that followed quickly earned the band attention regionally. The EP would later be remixed and re-released in early 2015 via BandCamp, Spotify, and iTunes.
STEREO EMPIRE recently completed their follow up EP, OCEANS, set for release late 2016. Drawing from the grandiosity of Imagine Dragons, the grit of The Weeknd, and the pop-sensibility of Maroon 5, OCEANS is the band's most diverse effort to date, and ultimately, their most honest. OCEANS is the sound of a band coming into its own and embracing its identity, without being afraid to take steps towards the future.
And for STEREO EMPIRE, the future is now.
The band will tour in support of the release this fall.
